Still, the game based on the first Bond movie to start Pierce Brosnan is known far and wide for being one of the best multiplayer games on any platform and in any genre. The concept is clearly ridiculous…no surprises there.

So much so in fact that Ridiculous Fishing netted a boat-load of awards when it landed. You play as Billy the fisherman, yanking fish out of the water and summarily shooting the living hell out of them for fun. And fun is exactly what it is — especially if you rip a few bong hits in between turns.

Undisputed prince and hero of the Mushroom Kingdom, he spends his time jumping on local residents, throwing turtles all over the place, eating mushrooms, ridings a dinosaur, throwing fireballs and repeatedly throwing himself to his death. Yep, just a normal day all-round. Every installment had its own unique charms, but GTA 4 excelled in ways nobody saw coming. Even playing alone, the fact that you can take a midnight stroll through an alternate version of New York City and cause mayhem along the way is epic on a whole new level.

Throw in a little multiplayer and well…what more could you want? Is Fifa a better football sim than Pro-Evo? Get yourselves a tournament going and you can kiss goodbye to your weekend! There are really only two ways of playing the original Roller Coaster Tycoon — one being to succeed as its creators intended, the other being to find the most creative and amusing ways of killing innocent part visitors.

It was and is the game that makes it worth forking out for a Nintendo Wii in its own right…the first-gen console being practically given away for free these days. But then again, how can the idea of crossing GTA with a fantasy Wild West setting be anything other than ridiculously awesome? Everything about Red Dead Redemption takes immersion and atmosphere to new heights. Stunning graphics, a glorious day-night cycle and so many ways of killing hours and days outside the set missions.

This is a franchise that absolutely needs and deserves a brand-new installment. The whole game was designed to make you question your beliefs and think a little deeper than you otherwise might. Exploring a world of shadows, encountering characters that are already dead and all while on a mission to track down your little sister. Most Nintendo classics are perfect pairings for high-quality bud.

Super Smash Bros is an all-time favourite in stoner circles if for no reason other than bringing together every character you knew and loved in your childhood. The result is a whole world of surreal pairings and square-offs the likes of which never get dull. Some of the slots games available are movie and some are just so colourful and mesmerizing.

In a technical sense, Resident Evil just kept on getting better. Three boxes ticked in spades by the first Resident Evil, which only gets better after a bong hit or two. The very first Silent Hill was less a game and more a raw test of your nerve. They managed to nail the concept of making you practically soil yourself with fear, even in instances when there was nothing happening.

Low visibility, eerie calm and the knowledge that at any time, something hideous might be just about to creep out of the fog. Well, quite simply because you can guarantee that at any time day or night, there are no doubt hundreds of thousands of other stoners just like you ripping bong hits and causing chaos online.

A world of maniacs with nothing better to do than wail on each other and live out their semi-twisted competitive fantasies. Right at the other end of the spectrum comes a true classic you totally forgot existed. What makes PaRappa the Rapper an ideal stoner game is the fact that a heavy dose of weed makes it borderline impossible. With your reaction times a little on the slow side, even the easiest levels will present the kinds of challenges you never anticipated.

Crowds are no longer composed of the same six character models, and the detailed players are creepy in just how realistic they look. Even things like My GM have received an interface overhaul, making navigation a far more enjoyable experience. Animations and collision physics have been noticeably improved, making NBA 2K14 feel like a more substantial game compared to its last-gen counterpart. Not when it can display thousands of zombies, items, and collectibles onscreen all at once, with virtually no loading across a massive city.

It might get a little old after your 7,th kill, but combining weapons and exploring the city of Los Perdidos is fun for more than 15 hours of gameplay. It dances around with mythology without ever going full-bore God of War, keeping its feet planted mostly in reality for the entirety of the seven-hour campaign. The charming PvZ universe is filled with colorful characters and imaginative concepts, and the transition from top-down strategy game to third-person shooter went as well as could be expected.

Each of the three game modes provides different kinds of multiplayer fun, making for one of the better shooter experiences on the system. The biggest success, however, comes with the addition of booster pack-style unlocks. Every class has a massive wardrobe of equippable items, from goggles to beards to freaking dolphin-powered shotguns.

Seriously, wait until you see the Sunflower. The best thing that ever happened to the Need for Speed franchise was Criterion coming in and mucking with the formula. Criterion, best known for its vehicular carnage franchise Burnout, instilled in the franchise a unique verve, taking the time-tested cops-versus-racers aspect of Need for Speed and accentuating it with brutal demolition.

Gone is the dual pistol-wielding, backflipping archeologist; the new Lara is inexperienced and naive. But all that changes when the psychotic, shipwrecked survivors inhabiting the island of Yamatai try to crush Lara with boulders, riddle her with bullets, and throw her off cliffs. Now, with the next-gen version out on the new consoles, Lara looks even better than before. Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition completely rebuilds the visuals, adding improved textures, environmental particle effects, and drastically enhanced lighting, plus all of the DLC extras from the original version are included.

If you have yet to experience Tomb Raider, the Definitive Edition is definitely the version to play. And what better way to play it than on a next-gen console? You bet.
