A keyboard shortcut is very handy on desktop PC to start the volume mixer even faster. You can also start it from the Run dialog, but a direct keyboard shortcut is preferred by many Windows users because it's handy.
If you have created the desktop shortcut for the volume mixer , you can assign a keyboard shortcut for the Windows volume mixer! Simply right-click on the speaker icon, then goto to the Properties option and define the shortcut key.
With the volume desktop shortcut you also have the option to make the volume mixer even faster and more accessible. Sometimes it is important and you should definitely install the manufacturer's original driver. For example, the Realtek driver is often the case that Windows 10 installs its own driver. There is no error message, but there is no sound, the volume mixer does not work properly. After installation of the original driver, everything works! The speakers and audio problems are detected very well in Windows and partly fixed immediately.
This solution example is handy for anyone who often changes the sound volume options on Windows 10, as well as learn how to create a shortcut to this important Windows feature. Is also suitable for Windows 8. The solution is simple to view all shared folders on Windows, this example is also for Windows 8.
And you can increase or decrease the volume using the up and down arrow keys. Though the first method is easy and works great, it just opens the volume control panel which is not really a shortcut to adjust the volume. To create a direct shortcut to adjust the volume, we can use a third-party app like AutoHotkey, follow the steps on how to set it up.
Now you can see a Notepad with some script already written on it. Just ignore it and place this code below. Here you can see the keywords to every button for Mouse, Keyboard, Joystick. Use those keywords and replace the 8, 9 and 0 in the above code and place it in the notepad and save it.
Shortcuts must be working by now. If not, right-click on the icon again and click on Run Script. Though the shortcuts are working, they are not part of the system, so every time you boot up, the system will not load the files and you need to run the script manually. It will open the one system folder in the file manager. Just drag and drop the AutoHotKey file into that folder. Now your shortcuts will be loaded every time right from the system booted up for you to use.
These shortcuts will show you the native windows shortcuts, instead of creating a new panel like the first method. But I keep changing my mind faster than Google's Messaging apps. The problem I have is that unlike in Linux such a shortcut isn't working unless Volume Mixer icon on the taskbar is clicked upon. Can you, please suggest a way to create a keyboard shortcut to control Windows 10 audio volume not an application audio volume , which won't involve using a mouse? Right-click on an empty area on Desktop , then select New and Shortcut.
Click on Next button and provide a name for the said Shortcut and click Finish. Assigned your desired shortcut key like F11 or F10 by just pressing it in the Shortcut key area.
